The voice. That’s what they call her. The awesome range. That’s what they say about her. The unforgettable talent. That’s Maureen Hamill and she will be performing her cabaret revue for one night only, Saturday, February 13, 2010, at 8 p.m. for the Darien Arts Center’s Cabaret theatre.
She has a voice that has belted out roles like Miss Hannigan in Annie, and Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes, and reached powerful high A’s in songs such as Phantom’s Music of the Night.
She Loves New York…
Her New York cabaret debut garnered many great reviews including, the New York Times, that said, “The audience was hers.” Another reviewer echoed the same sentiments adding, “her voice is seamless and changes with aplomb.
Hamill’s star glowed brightly when she performed her sold-out cabaret show at New York’s Tavern on the Green, shared the concert stage with Tony winners James Naughton and Christine Ebersole, and sang for the Cabaret Cares concert at the Laurie Beechman Theatre.
For her own Hamill Productions she has written, directed and performed in many theatrical productions in Connecticut and nationwide, including sold-out concerts at the Fairfield Theatre Company, the Hartford Convention Center for the American Red Cross, and at the Harriet Hillman Theatre in West Palm Beach, as well as singing the National Anthem for the Mets at Shea Stadium and for the National Horse Show in Madison Square Garden and at the American Invitational at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.
She also was a founding member of the Downtown Cabaret Theatre in Bridgeport, CT, and has performed locally at the Edgerton Center, the Westport Country Playhouse, the Downtown Cabaret Theater, and at the Ivoryton Playhouse.
Her directorial credits include: Broadway Moments, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, Man of LaMancha, Annie, Anything Goes, The Sound of Music, Music Man, Guys & Dolls, Tintypes, Jerry's Girls, Side by Side by Sondheim, My Fair Lady, Jacques Brel, …Forum, and Same Time Next Year.
Hamill also is the associate producer for a new musical, Battlecry, written by Granville Burgess and Emmy and Grammy winner, Paul Bogaev.
Other original shows include: Thanks for the Memories 1945, Millennium Melodies, It's a Wrap, Toob Time, Positively Porter, I'll be Seeing You and Broadway Moments.
She’s had leading roles in Max Showalter's, Touch of the Child, and the New York production of The Cole Porter Review directed by Morton DeCosta, and Try This on Your Piano.
